An infrastructure upgrade was performed for a facility that was experiencing severe network issues. After the upgrade was performed on several fronts, the issues were all resolved, and the client was happy.
The above pictures represent what the client was dealing with before MAGTS came onsite to repair most of the inefficiencies of the rack. Additionally, not only were there many single points of failure, but also it was inherently difficult to troubleshooting the rack due to the cabling mess. Equipment positioning/mounting was also not in the best condition when we performed our survey.
The upgrade of the MDF rack at the building was completed, and end users immediately recognized the difference in both internet speeds and reliability. At MAGTS the most important aspect of a network upgrade is the end user experience, and we achieved the ultimate end user experience for this building through this project.
The importance of an infrastructure upgrade coupled with end user hardware upgrades
Infrastructure Upgrades are an essential and necessary part of your business along with end user hardware upgrades. IT upgrades are expensive, and so that is why it is important to get a 5 year plan in place. With a 5 year plan you can proactively keep your networks, and end user hardware up-to-date with the latest technology trends. Afterwards, the upgrades will not only keep you more secure, but also drastically improve end user productivity.
Is there downtime associated with an upgrade?
Downtime is unfortunantly inevitable with any key infrastructure upgrades. MAGTS ensures that the impact is minimum as we perform upgrades during off-hours. If your company is 24/7, and can’t afford extended downtime, we will bring a popup rack onsite to run on a temporary setup until your new infrastructure is racked, stacked, and ready to go.
Is it possible to upgrade only one component of the network such as wireless speed?
Wireless for both SMB and Enterprises run through devices called switches. These are what connects everything with hard lined connections. When you are wanting faster speeds anywhere through the network you start with the firewall (router), wired infrastructure, and then wireless infrastructure as it depends on the other two components. Once all three components have been upgraded you will notice a substantial speed increase.
Are end user computers able to be upgraded instead of replaced?
End user computers can be upgraded, but it depends on how old the end user computer is. If the computer is 7+ years old it is most likely time to replace it. Most modern operating systems require more resources, and with every new edition of an operating systems, it only adds to the amount of resources needed.
Can I reuse existing CAT5 wired connections for modern wireless?
